is there a such thing as evasive maneuvers?

I'm getting ganked left and right, and I can't figure out why. It seems like no matter how I move, hostiles are nailing me with every hit. I mean, considering how slow this game is (it's the slowed flying game I've ever played), evasive maneuvers should be easy. Furthermore, I'm faster than the ship...

I've already installed a few OXPs to spice it up a bit. As for designing my own, would it be possible to design a plot-driven campaign? That's one of the things I really liked about the Privateer games (especially the first one). I mean, I don't see how that could be done considering the interface, ...

Deep Space Hud

I've been trying to get the Deep Space Hud to work, but it's acting wonky. The bars show up, but not the textures for the "dashboard". Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? I'd really like to get this HUD working, I especially like how it makes the scanner look 3d. :)

Thanks, I just remapped it to another letter. As for using shift + something, I'm trying to avoid that for anything important.

First, thanks for the trade tips. Money has been slow coming. Actually, thanks for all the answers to all my newb questions. I've been jonesing for a Privateer substitute for quite a while. :D you can head towards the sun and just before you think you're going to die... Something must be buggy with ...

As for the injection key, you have actually double-mapped it to the screenshot key (*).
According to a chart I found, 42 is supposed to be left shift. Do you know where I can find an accurate chart? Thanks.

remapping problems?

I've edited my keyconfig.plist file, but some of the keys seem to not be working, and I'm wondering if it has something to do with the edits. With the following config, key_inject_fuel, key_autodock, key_docking_clearance_request seem to be non-responsive. Can anyone tell me why? Thanks. { key_roll_...

The regular controls for docking are... Oddly enough, the autodock controls aren't working for me, but the autopilot controls are. None of the controls let my dock instantly though. It would be nice if they did, as it would save a good deal of time. And I'll have another go at fuel scooping, thanks...

if you use a joystick with jaw control. Yeah, I'm debating the purchase of one. :) It works with system stations only... It didn't work for me at any station where I tried it. What other kinds of stations are there? Also, I read on the forums that the fuel scoop is supposed to work automatically. H...

did it, but it still won't let me save/paste. ls -la of addons (after that sudo command) gives me this:

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2009-06-04 16:35 .
drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 2009-06-04 16:35 ..

Just tried it. Apparently, I do not have permission to save to that folder. I'm still a little new with Linux/Ubuntu, so I'm not 100% sure how to change permissions and there's some kind of "sudo save as" function, I don't know about it.

cannot copy and paste keyconfig.plist

So, I managed to find the keyconfig.plist file and I tried to c/p the file to the AddOns folder. I supposedly can copy it, but it won't paste. Do I need to somehow change the permissions on that folder, or do some kind of sudo c/p command in the terminal? Thanks. edit: wtg me...I managed to get an e...

1) Thanks for the links, I would never have figured out how to install the current version without them. 2) The newer version does have yaw, thank god. I had no idea how I was going to get around without it. Also, I did a search of my computer and couldn't find that file, but I should probably go to...
