I'm using 1.5.3 - should I upgrade to 1.6?

I think the last ship was a Vampire. I may be wrong on that. It's not that annoying cos I'm after the kills rather than the dosh (about 47 away from Elite rating at the moment :D ).

It's happened a couple of times now where I destroy the mark and (s)he ejects in her escape pod, but the escape pod carries no name (it is just called 'escape pod') and I get no credit for killing the mark when I dock (just get told what a numpty I am for letting the mark escape). I can report success with the most recent 'missing' mark - I set sail for the station from the Witchpoint but didn't engage injectors and eventually the mark found me (I see Diziet Sma suggested this in his last post - thank you!). I will try this strategy again if needed - looks like I was wrong ab...

Well, the next time this happens I will fly back and forth a few more times but I'm afraid I do suspect it is something more fundamental - it has only happened in G5 and where the Station is close to the Witchpoint. I may end up going on to G6 to see if it makes any difference.

I am in G5 and I have had 3 targets where I have been completely unable to find the target. I know the target should be between the Witchpoint and the Station and it does appear that these 'missing targets' are restricted to systems where the Station is close to the Witchpoint. I decided to have a look at some other player ships (still think the Boa CC is awesome) and have eventually settled on a Boa Clipper. I went back to an earlier saved game and adjusted my tactics - using ECM hard noses to scare off the Asps and using accurate fire to take out the plasma turrets allowed me to scoop the transmitter. How do you get the transmitter from the asteroid? Do you have to kill the defending asps or is this not a pre-requisite?
