Re: Introduce Yourself.
Hello fellow space travellers. Hi Dave and welcome. Speccy veteran here but yeah, the original concept and execution were something else. Beutifully flawed in places perhpas but that too was part of the charm. Check out the tinkerer's workshop thread (if you don't already know it) or even the scrip...

Re: Station sizes on the wiki vs the dat files
The Space Trader's Flight Training Manual (SBG38/B1) p. 16, col. 2, par. 3, says about the Coriolis station: "They can berth 2000 ships, and support a fair-sized colonial life development of humanoids." This seems reasonable, and will be accepted as the basis of my subsequent argument her...

Re: Hull damage
OK, I've had a quick look and although there was no check upon launching (nor should there be I think) there is a potential for error. What I can do is have it reset the relevant speed adjustment just prior to saving. That should prevent the speed penalty being applied more than once. Thanks for the...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)
Agree with the others.
My reason is that it is clearly a '2' in the first image whereas the 'II' of the others is both more stylised and less obviously numerical.

Re: Slower planet rotation?
I don't think that anybody has done anything like this yet. I did it for the rescaling experiment. Can't remember which of those settings I used however. The rescaling experiment was 'finished' and functional BTW it just gets left behind a bit if it doesn't get updated along with oolite. What's bee...

Re: Hull damage
Jane's Galactic Shipset caused the last bug. I have to say, I'm surprised. Jane's Galactic Shipset doesn't do anything with equipment except for the following: 1. On startup, if you have the cargo bay expansion installed, it reduces your ship's max speed. 2. If you install the cargo bay, it reduces...

FWIW, I'd blame it on the quanity that you're doing rather than the quality.

Re: A question of lore
The two well-developed versions of the lore - Selezen's & Cim's - both imply that the inhabitants of the Eight came from elsewhere. Neither seem to discuss the GS's - but Selezen's views would have been historically tinged by his wish to incorporate Frontier From what I recall of Selezen's acco...

Re: Masslock Reimagined OXZ
Casting an occasional eye upon developments within Elite Dangerous I noticed with interest the new supercruise overdrive feature and was considering posting something about it relating to what I'd been trying to do around masslock (and with this oxp in particular). Just hours ago, this was posted: S...

Re: Am annoyed about fixed lasers
There's also cosmetics to consider. Default laser only fires in a cardinal direction. You can remove it altogether (in which case you need a new method of 'firing') or you can try to hide it (in which case you also need to hide relevant contact effects such as sounds). If drawing a new laser path th...

Re: Am annoyed about fixed lasers
I'd been thinking about this a little bit recently... So currently facing = aim but but if that association were no longer absolute then some interesting possibilities (as well as pitfalls) present themselves. Sepearating laser facing from pilot facing is one way of describing such an unlock and so ...

Re: Physical Dimensions of "Space Trader's Flight Training Manual"?
What you have there, Redspear, is a document in the internationally standardized A5 size. If you read into my previous reply an implication that you were an imprecise measurer, please take this as a public apology. No disparagement of your measuring ability was intended. No worries. I merely answer...

Re: Physical Dimensions of "Space Trader's Flight Training Manual"?
BBC manual 210mm x 149mm (likely 150 if curvature is accounted for). No, more likely 148mm than 150mm. Specifically, A5 size. The one I measured was at least 149. I measured both front and back to account for staple displacement. So unless the ruler (not tape which could have stretched) was out the...
