Re: Scifi aliens described in Elite/Oolite terms
fierce is in set 1 and harmless in set 2. (Everything else in set 2 is a colour so I kind of suspect it was put there by mistake.) Hmm, it would appear to suggest that. If harmless were a colour... beige? :P Also anything that's not related to size, behaviour or colour is in set 3, so unlike numero...

Re: Scifi aliens described in Elite/Oolite terms
I think you might be conflating the animal part of inhabitant type with species. I'm not conflating anything - I meant the cases where the inhabitants of a specific planet are given both the "fierce" and "harmless" adjectives. See for example the inhabitants of Soinuste in Chart...

Re: Scifi aliens described in Elite/Oolite terms
Another thought. Elite's algorithm allows the same species to be both fierce and harmless; how would that work out in practice? Can you think of an example of a species in some franchise that could be described as "fierce harmless <something>s"? I think you might be conflating the animal ...

Re: Scifi aliens described in Elite/Oolite terms
I personally lean towards the former because it fits better with all ships and whatnot coming in standard sizes. Yeah me too and for that same reason. Although it's also because that was the best fit for my c.1984 undestanding of sc-fi 'races', largely based on the cantina scene from star wars

Re: "This is Oolite" Youtube video
Point taken on the rotations. I’ll try to split up the Cobra one, maybe have a different angle cross the nose so you get a shot of the station behind. With the FdL, I was also trying to match the change of dynamics in the music. I might try adding some camera drone shots, with the goal being the re...

Re: "This is Oolite" Youtube video
Firstly, good job, you've chosen many of the elements well and for the most part it's nicely framed and the length is probably about right but... I'm a nit-picker so make what you will of the following. Rotations usually work best when they stay shy of 180 degrees - the first on the cobra is maybe a...

Re: Alien Systems OXZ
Next version is ready bar the testing. Key difference is a gradient of entry requirements with there being more ways to enter some systems than others. Some alien types (mammals) no longer require special entry conditions. There are two main reasons for these changes: one method won't necessarily wo...

Re: Duplicated System Names
Colonial (Insect in this case) systems established at the same time but as a consequence of a civil war. The war eventually resulted in the habitable destruction of their native planet and the two factions left for different destinations, both choosing the name of their former home for their respect...

Re: Things I Wish I Knew BEFORE Starting this *@*#~&ing .oxp
I want a thick pea-souper. And the atmosphere seems rather thin for the size of the planet (or is it just me?) Clouds in oolite are... on the subtle side. I too would like much thicker clouds (in some cases at least). I 'baked in' clouds layers for additional planets based on Earth's clouds. Much m...

Re: Main station variety
Proto coriolis is from
Solos Alt Stations
It changes the main station model and then adds some comms and questionable humour. It shouldn't do anything to commodity prices.

Re: Anarchies 2.8 now available
Do you have
Weapon Laws installed?
I recall that there was a condition for it to occur in anarchies but can't remember if it was included in the last version.

No
And I'll have you (belatedly) know that Yorkshire is at least in the 17th century.
That description has been there for maybe a year, I added the lenscap bit a few months ago I think.

Re: Main station variety
Afraid I don't use Alien Systems because of the whole limiting which systems you can visit thing, which clashes too much with my preferred playstyle and my view of how GalCop operates. No problem but I wish to clarify to anyone reading this that it actually limits HOW you can enter a some systems n...
