Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

Wow, you know what? As a ship builder, it does affect me, and others... I can't see how. As long as you know that in order to match up with the pre-existing scales, a ship needs to be in a putative range of x to y metres, what does it matter if that range is 5-20 or 50-200? Or even 500-2000? As lon...

Re: Where do I go from here?

This link from a thread in Outworld has a pretty good rundown on what's hot or not in recent cards. It's American, but a quick search on ebay for the card type wherever you may be should give you some good ideas of price.

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

Wow. You know what? I play Oolite. It works. I don't care if thing X is eleventy-three times bigger/smaller/more purple than it "should" be or not. I don't care if things from fictional universe A don't match up with things in fictional universe B without having to adjust their scale or sp...

Re: Split: Difficulty for new players

The main problem is the torus drive, it's an uber device that gives the player a serious advantage over the npcs. Even when used in the lane. I'd have to disagree with this too. The only advantage I can see is when you use it to chase down a target who's running away on injectors, and you can only ...

Re: Split: Difficulty for new players

So far, I think the best solution to the off-lane issue is to leave the mechanics as they are, and make going off-lane unpredictably dangerous via occasional pirate nets and Thargoid patrols. As for the "boring" bits, I think Capt. Reynolds is right: this is a game which requires patience...

Re: Split: Difficulty for new players

Am I the only person here who thinks this is a non-problem? Nope. As far as I can tell, buried under the last umpteen pages is the problem of making the "boring" mass-locked inbound bits less boring for the new player. If they get put off by that, chances are they'd never stick with the g...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

Oh god, if they can't tell the difference between a cargo container and a unpowered ship or similar... I now have a mental image of a Scavenger turning up for a maintenance overhaul with a derelict Anaconda jammed in its fuel scoop, the pilot saying "dunno what's wrong but the handing's gone to...

Re: Saitek Cyborg X

Solution: bought Thrustmaster T16000M Looks like a good piece of kit - shame about the Cyborg X but I don't think Saitek exactly did themselves any favours with that one, judging by what I've seen online. I've just switched to a Saitek X52 setup and have to say they're not half bad, even if the ide...

Apart from cost, how would this vary from Military Fuel Injectors?

Re: Split: Engine trails

It's weird that this thread should materialize just when I'm thinking something vaguely similar... I was thinking how cool it would be to have missile con-trails, generated in the same way as the aforementioned fuel leak but less diffuse, maybe fading out after 15-30 seconds. Locking up several targ...
