Re: Docking fees revisited

If it's a tiny fee, it's hardly worth doing because once you have a few tens of thousands in the bank it doesn't make any difference. I guess you can mentally amortize ship repairs & pretend that's a docking fee. If it's a large fee, it'll really kill those new Jamesons just trying to make a few...

Re: Missing target identification

Yes, ships that are missing their textures seem to show up as a nice, hot pink.

Re: Number of vessel berths at each station

It works like the transporter in Star Wars, where you get lasered to death & then they make a new you out of poop & discarded racing forms in a new location.

Re: Please Tell Me This Can Work! :(

I happen to be a slightly paranoid person and there is no way I'm going to store all my stuff where it could be potentially viewed by others. Save files are text, & thus compress very well, & it should be fairly simple to just zip them up (I'd suggest 7zip since it uses 256bit AES, but ther...

Re: various equipment questions

I think it's more important to have a case where every once in a while, the tea maker starts talking to your ship's computer & all your controls lock up for 20 minutes or so.

Re: OXP available Fighter Ships recommendations

The ol [EliteWiki] Eel Rapier is kinda old school, but pretty nice for killin' & huntin'. Course, it's nothin' like the über ships of to-day, but back when I was a kid we all flew wearing comical barrels held up with suspenders AND WE LIKED IT!

A way of showing status throughout the animal kingdom is closely tied to how many mates you have. As such it is historically (however ethically and progressively unsound in a modern society) an indication of "bling". Ah, a money sink! "You have just recieved a statement from the Hoop...

Re: Docking Computer

Well, running 1.80, when the least bump against the sides of the docking bay induces a space-bar push, it's kind of nice to have something else take over while you grab another beer & make a sandwich (though the dorking computer is still only about 9 for 10 on the whole "not blowing up"...

Re: Will Oolite survive with the release of Elite Dangerous?

I am in total agreement master cim. I can be somewhat flamboyant at times with the nature of my pros and this can lead to misunderstandings; but when boiled down, it is but a simple message: (and to quote a misquotation) “Reports of oolites death have been greatly exaggerated” Just waggishly paraph...
