I really only use missiles in two occassions. One is when approaching a large group of pirates. If they have one big ship with turrets, I'll fire a couple of hardheads off at him while I'm out of range of the turrets, then go after the smaller ones. Normally this is while doing a pirate hunt for the...

Do you have fuel collector OXP loaded and a fuel scoop? Maybe you got the extra you needed during the hyperspace jump???

My complaint with missiles is that when you fire one, you lose the target tracking on the ship you fired it at. You have to acquire the target again. However, the AI ships will often fire a salvo of missiles in less that 1 second and when they don't even have you in their crosshairs. So why can they...

I'm running dual monitors. Main screen is a 22" HP widescreen LCD at 1680x1050, the other is a 17" CRT running at 1024x768 (I call it my In Cabin Entertainment system). It's nice for surfing the galaxy-wide web or watching classic movies from the 21st century while on those long, dull Milk...

It's not an ATI card, it's Nvidia. I updated to the latest driver last night at it didn't help. OXPs are working - I'm not in strict mode. I've tried holding down shift several times. It must be something going on somewhere else in my system because it stayed that way even after uninstalling and rei...

Where'd my shaders and planet textures go???

I messed around the other night with wireframe mode, and when I came back to normal mode, shaders don't work and planets have the old blotchy textures. My log doesn't say anything about "shaders not available" or anything like that. I unistalled and reinstalled V1.72.2 - no change. I unist...

Docking is much easier in Oolite than it was in Elite. Modern joysticks with analog sticks make matching rotation much easier as you don't have to tap-tap-tap-tap the stick at a certain pace to match rotation, you can just move the stick to where it matches and hold it there for the entire final app...

Oolite 3D. Is it possible?

So I was just playing around with wireframe mode. I kind of like it, especially for combat. But I started thinking, would it be possible to make a view like wireframe, no textures or anything, but that you would wear red and blue 3d glasses and have the wireframes show up in 3d. It seems like making...

Oo-haul escort mission crashes 1.72.1 at Safety Zone

It's happened twice consecutively now. Oolite 1.72.1 crashes when the Oo-haul gets to the safety zone. I can't speak for which is the most popular or most played statistically speaking, but I've been wearing out Random Hits lately. I prefer the more atmospheric OXPs. Not the ones that have complex story lines or overly scripted missions. I prefer to keep Oolite as blank slate like as possible. Random...
