Thanks for sharing, Simon B! Yes, don't we just love this game, and especially its whole non-player-centredness. :D I myself (with my battle-hardened Imperial Courier) would of course not have stopped in that same situation before I would've killed every single ship involved (the bad guys first, th...

Interestingly I didn't have anything too special installed as oxp no thargon attack or anything especially likely to create big fights. Random hits is there though... hmmm, and all the governments... things are much more volatile in anarchies... But I can see how there is material for a bunch of nov...

Note: this script goes in the source. Where do source submissions go? Either someone will pick it up from here or you can make it a feature request here and that way it'll be tracked: http://developer.berlios.de/feature/?group_id=3577 Attempted secure login - firefox returned: Secure Connection Fai...

Development: Arachnid SB

http://www.hbclinux.net.nz/oolite/arachnid-avatar.jpg Arachnid Please find arachnid.oxp.tar.gz containing a moderately complete oxp for an impractical ship. The idea is to create a ship which is flawed, but a must-have. It needs to be fun to fly - and work around the flaws. Feedback wanted. If anyo...

I was in hyperdrive trying avoid the spacelanes when I was attracted by laser flashes - there's usually a bounty taking out pirates so in I go. That I saw the red laser lines and not big white flashes soys the fight has just started so I have a change of getting an easy kill on a wounded ship. That ...

Typhoon Class "Noseoid*" Cruiser (T Cruiser) *Nickname needed... preferably to fit the theme. (Though using ooniverse animals is an intreguing idea...) Mustang? Buffalo? ... and fits with the idea of a light cruiser intended for military use? Hmmm... mustang I suppose. "Bald Eagle&qu...

Oops, had overlooked your long post. I think I can answer one or two questions. usefully too, I may add... The cougar and cruiser to have military varients. Coyote to have a high-tech only ultra-fast version. (Star Runner?) For ultrafast ships see also about anything Charlie ever designed (the ship...

Re: ettiquette

Is is appropriate to post a different thread per OXP discussed? Not only appropriate, but much easier to re-visit afterwards, if the thread name gives a hint which OXP (or problem, or question, or ...) is discussed. So noted - I'll have to sort myself out. While I'm mostly doing ships as a way to l...

Re: Has anyone notised how outsized the Cobra Mk3 is?

It's called "Cat (Cougar)", at least in the ship list , and "Cat Mark I (Cougar)" above the screenshot in the infobox. I am quite certain there is a story behind it. If I'm not mistaken oldships.oxp contains ships that appeared in certain Elite-versions only. Look [url=ttp://old...

Great looking ship :) Nice ... which one? By context - the typhoon... which OXP is due an upgrade soon. The one currently up has an unused skin to encorporate and I want to get rid of the "likeship" so it can stand alone. In responce to the critique on the name - the class will be called ...

Re: Has anyone notised how outsized the Cobra Mk3 is?

Please note that there already exists a ship named Cougar . Always willing to be informed... That link points to a wiki stub for a ship called "Cat" which comes in the "oldships" oxp. I got that - where do you get "cougar"? Anyway, nobody need take the names I use. I t...

Probably should start new threads for this... *Arachnid* Havn't managed to get the fwd laser to fire from the arachnid nose - it always appears from just outside the front points. No matter what. I'm guessing I need to make the pontoons separate models. This should be a matter of loop-cutting the st...
