Back to decals ...

'suse me for being dense - does this mean we now have a standard bunch of griff decals across all npcs and players can set up a PC decal for themselves?

lookee ... I've been playing with the isoc station again, and experimenting with dock designs. There's a lot of scope but bottom line must be that all the player ships actually fit! (Though, one could have a oxp of a small station for small ships only - a sign on the dock says "max beam 100m, ...

Another shot at the isoc station ... http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/Simon_Bridge/gisoc.png Not happy with the dock - it is too wide and short, hairy getting in and out. However, I think I've hit the correct approach with the station panels - by putting flat metal on the diamonds and having ...

Wow... well I had a trunk build from karmic, upgraded instead of installed lucid, without even thinking about it and it just works.

I'll have to keep notes for the next build though.

Shader test complete. http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/Simon_Bridge/starsoarer-1.png normalmaps work better if the lower parts are also darker, and matt - otherwise I get a height-flipping effect if I rotate the model. I had to flip-y in the gimp normalmap plugin to get the right sense in thi...

Absolutely - if you look to the right of the skinned pic, you'll see one of the cutters undocked. The other is in its bay. If you check the unskinned screenshots you'll see that the cutter also has detachable modules. One of those shots shows you the bays. I doubt I could script this for oolite thou...

Get it while its hot. http://www.hbclinux.net.nz/oolite/starsoarer.oxp.zip [1.8MiB] I've hacked together the standard neolite shaders with this - but I have included the wings file in case someone wants to do something sophisticated with it. Enjoy. [edit] tested the shaders - stands up well. Also - ...

I worked out what I was doing wrong with texturing the Broadsword. http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/Simon_Bridge/broadsword-textured.png With this model, the challenge was to cut the two holes for the cutters. BTW: if you like the decal, look through tattoo sites - they often have sample imag...

Hi Simon B Very very Cool!!!Thank you for making this ship :) Did you thought of the specs this ship has? O and do you have a download link? Well - I can just slip this into a basic oxp, or add shaders. stats - you designate it as a fighter/trader - if I make it a bit bigger than an asp, could mana...

Hi Simon B,
Very Cool. Maybe dull in a modeling way but very Elite. Thank you for making it
Well - maybe I can use it to experiment with some of griffs shaders - there's a decal and some paint there ...

OK I went and looked: http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/Simon_Bridge/starsoarer.png Happy?! These paper-dart craft are quite dull. Here's a challenge for traveller fans ... anyone want to skin this one? http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/Simon_Bridge/th_broadsword1.png http://i598.photobu...

Gimmie a bit to upload the models and current textures and you lot can play with them. Anyone wants me to look at a model design should give me a link to what they refer to. Thanks. The Vangelis writing is a Deja-Vu Sans written flat and put through the polar-coord filter, so it can probably be bett...

Playing Around: Some time ago I designed a Star Trek ship for a role-playing game. Here it is: http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/Simon_Bridge/vangelis-512.png Strangely this is quite polygon-light. I also had a go designing a custom ship to use griff shaders - this is the basic skin. http://i5...
