Good man, that!

I used to live within smelling distance of the XXXX brewery; still preferred my Bundy-and-Coke!

Re: Ideas and Thanks

SeaMonkey was around a looong time before the Firefox project got launched. Firefox was supposed to be the lightweight fast browser-only option (and technology testbed), competing directly with IE and whatever else was making waves at the time.

Just like fashion, IT keeps going in Circles... :P

Re: Freeze:Equipment Price & like Ship Price Calculations 1.

Edit: Just saw your edit. Let's go for decicredits calculations. Just had a more detailed look through the routine; seems that 0-price equipment is not the issue; rather, that Frame was setting equipment to 0-price (which would normally disable it) but then also made it a required item. Even decicr...

Re: Freeze:Equipment Price & like Ship Price Calculations 1.

Why exactly are we storing the prices in decicredits, but then working in credits (ie, the div-by-10)? Why not just keep working in decicredits (or even centi/millicredits if additional accuracy is required) and avoid the rounding issue? Of course, we'd still need to deal with any 0Cr items in some ...

edit to add: it could be really clever (as long as mission.markSystem will mark whilst the f6/f6 screen is open) and use a timer to 'animate' your route so far through a galaxy.
That would be nifty - you could try to spell rude words with your route ala Wowbagger, the Infinitely Prolonged.

Re: Pressing F12 crashes latest debug version of game.

This is probably a stupid thought but what would happen if you substituted "===" in place of the "==" in the above sections of code? It wouldn't compile because "===" is not a valid Objective-C operation. We're talking about the actual game code here, not about OXP Jav...

Re: DRM and the BBC

PS. I'm not against eDistribution, it's great and saves a lot of resources. But we have to work -very- hard on a fair model which ensures that content creators get rewarded and consumers don't get ripped off either.

Re: DRM and the BBC

It might be better if digital products weren't sold to people at all: rather than buying an ebook, say, people could rent it for some few pence and get access to it for 24 hours; and rather than buying a DVD, it could be streamed and paid for on a per-view basis. People who buy a book expect to be ...

Re: DRM and the BBC

It would help if DRM solutions were built (and, more importantly, implemented - often the technology itself is capable) such that legit purchasers of DRM-protected content could enjoy the content properly (including transferring between and accessing on all devices, lending out to friends, etc. Basi...

Re: How to thwart galactic hyperspace jump?

Personally I see the Gal Hyperdrive as being some sort of one-shot overdrive of the standard Hyperdrive, containing all the fuel/energy/gubbins needed for the Galactic Jump, burning itself out in the process. As such I also don't think it would make sense for the GHD to be available to ships which d...

Re: How to thwart galactic hyperspace jump?

Put in a feature request to influence jumping from script. Won't be added till after MNSR (1.76) though, and even then only if somebody gets the time, so no guarantees. OTOH, continuously checking for GalDrive presence during the countdown would also allow it to be destroyed in a fight during the co...

Re: why is the forum password requirement so strict?

Why the world at large has failed to protect everything with PKI is beyond me. We -have- the technology for somewhat secure single sign on. And have had it for a long time. Passwords are not a particularly good way to protect anything, especially if you need a different one for each service and, as ...
