Haven't gotten this bug for ages, and it's reared its ugly head again tonight. Discovered that whenever it occurs, there's a PLANET_TYPE_MINIATURE in the system: [universe.objectDump]: -> Ent:2 <PlanetEntity 0x12b55780>{ID: 446 position: (120, 80, 640) type: PLANET_TYPE_MINIATURE radius: 0.111km} ma...

Ah yes.. I keep forgetting Oolite runs a few years post-Elite and hence has improved Tech. I actually hacked my copy of Oolite to mass-lock on asteroids from a certain size upwards for that feeling of nostalgia *g* Then again.. if I have an older ship, wouldn't it still have the old-tech in it? Anyw...

Run this before you type 'make': $ . `locate GNUstep.sh` This sets up your GNU-Step development environment. If you don't have GNUstep.sh (use 'locate' to find it) on your system then you haven't fully installed your development environment. You can also put this into your .bashrc (if you use bash) ...

I like DaddyHoggy's explanation of the Oo(E)lite spacedrive - makes as much sense as anything else and at least it's reasonably internally-consistent. I'm sure an explanation can be found as to why ships can only fly in the facing direction. For me, FE2/FFE are in a separate universe to Oo(E)lite co...

Alternatively I can build binaries for Windows XP and Ubuntu and make them available somewhere. Sorry, no OS-X. I know this is not what you mean, but somehow I hear alarm-bells ringing here. If something gets changed in the trunk, then it has to get changed in all the trunk. I am strongly against i...

Shouldn't all per-user files under Windows go into the users app-data directory? ie: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Oolite\* Of course this would need to be read from the registry in case it's been changed. If that’s the “offical” location for that sort of thing, I favour it ...

I am generally a fan of programs that contain themeselves in their own little space and don't spread files all over the place. In general I definitely agree with you there, however imho user-generated content (in this case save-games and preferences, and possibly the log files) should be stored in ...

Shouldn't all per-user files under Windows go into the users app-data directory? ie: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Oolite\* Of course this would need to be read from the registry in case it's been changed. As a sidestep, would it make sense under Linux to move the ~/oolite-sa...

To be honest, I'd always envisaged the missiles carried by Elite ships to be held internally with a firing tube - more like a torpedo than a fighter-planes' wing-mounted missile pylon. As such it ought to be possible to purchase a 'missile bay extension' - using up some of the ships' cargo capacity....
