Re: Newbie - Questions on Scope of Mods/OXPs
Hi viberunner, Also, the game engine is under active development; feel free to dive in yourself! Alternatively if you bug the developers enough they just might add the additional features you require; for example, changing the player ship (and divorcing the player from the ship) is a recurring reque...

Re: Time Acceleration Not Functioning
Not my decision. But if TAF was to become a game feature, I think there needs to be a lot of testing done to ensure you can't warp through stuff and whatnot. Probably also have to automatically flip to "real-time" on Condition Red and suchlike. Perhaps post MNSR, but for now I don't think ...

Re: Time Acceleration Not Functioning
Alternatively you could be running a release configuration build. TAF is a test/debug feature, not a game feature. edit- in fact, I'm sure that's the case; the -ubuntu1 build is the 'official' Debian/Ubuntu packaged build and they compile Oolite as a release build, not like the test builds which we ...

Re: Game Save Error in Oolite 1.75.0.4375
Hi Commander Wilmot, by this stage you should be using Oolite 1.75.3. Ensure that all OXPs you are running are at their latest version -and- supported. It sounds like some of them may be old versions or even obsolete. If you put your savegame online somewhere I can also take a look, Cheers, - Micha.

Re: [Solved] wormholes in interstellar space not quite fixed
Can you please post the exact steps to reproduce, from starting Oolite until the crash, including which save-file, which systems you target, which order you perform the commands in, etc. At this stage I can't help but conclude that it's either an oddity of specific Windows configurations and/or with...

Re: [Solved] wormholes in interstellar space not quite fixed
Still can't reproduce crash under Linux.
Start Oolite, load savegame A00G3Test3b, launch, turn away, press 0, press Shift-N, press n, watch jump animations, get bored.

Re: desk
Looks interesting.. but until someone works out a way around the lack of haptic feedback I can't see it replacing the standard keyboard (even in that video there was a proper keyboard). If you can't feel it, you can't touch-type on it and always have to look where you're pressing. Nevertheless I wou...

Re: OOLITE MULTIPLAAAYEEEER (or the closest thing to it)
Throwing petrol on the fire: I personally wouldn't mind a multiplayer Oolite (even though I know it'd be a VERY ambitious undertaking with the current codebase and most likely require a rewrite from scratch, and hence something which is exceedingly unlikely to ever happen (unless of course, someone ...

Re: Do you push your ship too hard?
Does the Docking Clearance Protocol that came into being from Oolite 1.72, stop ships from launching when a ship has permission to dock? Yes. In fact, the whole launching-ship-ramming-docking-player is what got that feature started in the first place. It's not everybody's cup of tea though, hence t...

Re: player.ship.velocity and Witchspace jump.
Actually, on that, wouldn't it possibly make more sense to reset speed to absolutes when launching/hyperspacing, rather than %ages? For me it would feel more natural that the speed is given by the wormhole itself and is independent from a ships max speed. So yes, a fixed speed for all ships would b...

Re: Do you push your ship too hard?
My gaming style is similar to Drew's - I try to stay alive at all costs, and don't use savegames as a try-again mechanism although not quite as hardcore that I consider a savegame lost if I do die. I will take on the odd contract (gives me an incentive to see the galaxy), and will try to help other ...

Re: player.ship.velocity and Witchspace jump.
Actually, on that, wouldn't it possibly make more sense to reset speed to absolutes when launching/hyperspacing, rather than %ages? Having done some testing recently with a bleeding fast ship, you barely get time (ok, slight overstatement, but still) to pull up before crashing into the buoy when lau...

Re: Anne McCaffrey RIP
Blog entry Nice post! Also, incidentally, I very much liked the earlier Pern books (Landing, etc). as well. ( Spoiler ) I just found the last couple a bit too unbelievable that (a) a feudal society could re-learn advanced technology in the space of a couple of years (even under the tutelage of a Ma...

Re: Anne McCaffrey RIP
This is really turning out to be a rough year for people I respect passing on :( I found Pern through the school library - and spent ages trying to work out which order to read the blasted things in :) Still one of my all-time fave series, at least, until they re-discover their past. Liked her other...

Re: Fast Missile
I definitely think that we should return to the old-style of war: the people that -want- the war, should be in the frontlines, and not cowering like curs in a massive bunker half-way around the world pushing buttons.
Would certainly reduce the level of madness a bit.
