Re: Oolite scales (no, honest, read it!)
Very good ideas in Elite A and will be experimenting with these in the future. Definitely! Probably not for the Oolite 1.x future, but perhaps an "Oolite A" can be branched, or Oolite 2 will eventually be resurrected and some of these ideas can be incorporated. Anyway, let's first iron ou...

Re: Pressing F12 crashes latest debug version of game.
At least the recent changes to the way switching to full-screen mode works do not appear to have caused this. That's a relief.
Thanks for the exhaustive testing.

Re: Cannot reach maximum pitch under mouse control.
Seems to work just as before under Linux - not being a mouse-commander I can't really tell whether or not there are subtle differences (keyboard for me).

Re: Cannot reach maximum pitch under mouse control.
Can't reproduce on my desktop or laptop. The laptop has a native res of 1366x768, and on the desktop I tried various resolutions down to 640x480. In all cases I could get full pitch using the mouse and cause a witchspace malfunction. PS. This is on Linux - sorry didn't see the new posts mentioning i...

Re: Oolite scales (no, honest, read it!)
@Selezen: I wasn't necessarily meaning you'd got the size of the TC's wrong, just (IMHO) the justification :) As for the living quarters - it seems you have the majority of the ships' area devoted to them; in a ship where space is at a premium and profits should be maximised it would appear (to me) ...

Re: Alien Pictures
The game would need to remember which variant was assigned to which planet, but maybe that could be done by e.g. dividing the radius by the population and using the product to pick a type from a list? Easier than that - just use the pseudo-RNG which is seeded on system. It's already used to generat...

Re: Oolite scales (no, honest, read it!)
Nice work, but I also subscribe to the TC being a standard volume, rather than weight. From Wikipedia: The ton is a unit of measure. It has a long history and has acquired a number of meanings and uses over the years. It is used principally as a unit of weight, and as a unit of volume . It can also ...

Can you pinpoint which nightly started crashing for you?
Do you get the crash when not running under gdb as well?
Have you tried deleting the GNUStep folder for Oolite?

Re: Pay off your fines
The level of the fine should be set that it would not be worthwhile to profit from crime Fines being not a fixed number of credits, but a %age of your net worth? Ouch! Why a %age of net worth? That's silly - it doesn't matter whether I'm a dole-bludger or a banker, if I park my car illegally I get ...

Re: Have you ever gone on a rampage though your Ooniverse?
When actually playing, I try to keep clean; generally only fight when attacked or when I come across a poor trader who can't handle its own, or, or course, when I'm running a mission. Although I have even been known to let off a mark who has pleaded for life, depending on the crime they were accused...

Re: OT - configuring XWindows
You could always try Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) - it runs from the latest Debian branch, is a rolling release, and they have more hardware and multimedia support out of the box. They also repackage Ubuntu. Personally I was reasonably happy with Ubuntu until they shoved Unity down my throat. Th...
