Re: Movember? (or indeed Oovember!)

The whole point (ok, a large part of the point) is to go out of your way to grow a mo (and just a mo, and from scratch) even if it causes issues with your stunning good looks and/or your better halves (my gf -hates- mine, for eg., and I personally hate having to shave every day)
Anyhoo.. :)

Re: Ideas and Thanks

How about a one press lock of the (i) fuel injection button. Perhaps Shift/i to save wearing out ones keyboard. I'm actually thinking of making fuel injectors MUCH less useful - by making them increasingly unreliable as they are being actively used (basically, they are 'overheating'), with the pote...

Re: More player ships in core game?

Is that a bug? My understanding was that the Gal Hyperdrive is an 'overdrive burst' of the standard hyperdrive and hence should rely on a drive being fitted.

Re: OXP Distribution and Packaging information

Couple of suggestions to add: 1. Case sensitivity - especially Windows-OXPers should ensure that filenames in plists match the actual names of the files in case, not just spelling. Otherwise their creations break on other systems. 2. I would very strongly suggest properly filled out info.plist and r...

Re: Feel free to use my Oolite creations

The Worker's Commuter should also get an overhaul on how much cargo it can carry. Like 3000 TC instead of 300 TC. It is HUGE even compared to an Anaconda! That raises 2 things IMHO: 1. The Anaconda should finally get fixed. It's widely discussed that the 750TC capacity was a typo and that it should...

Re: Failed to parse shipdata.plist, "reached end of string"

gedit is as good as, or better than, Notepad++ - the suggestion was meant to not use Notepad (the assumption being that everybody uses Windows and Notepad by default). In gedit, use View->Highlight Mode->(various, eg, Sources->C) and it will start highlighting things, specifically, strings. Makes it...

Re: London meet up in Dec? Any more details?

I have both the Friday & the Saturday (16th & 17th) noted in my calendar; so far I'm free on both.
Looking forward to it :)

PS. Has a venue been decided on yet? If not, might need sorting soon-ish depending on whether we want to reserve a table or just Trumble up to a bar.

Re: Generation Ships 1.1

WOW! That picture was in one of my kids future-educational-thingy books when I was growing up in Germany.. talk about a blast from the past :) Pity they were predicting these things in orbit by the 90's or so at the time. Here we are well into the 2nd decade of the 21st century and.. nada. Well, alm...

Ah, sorry, I took yout 'accidental' to mean 'accidentally triggering the player-induced misjump' as opposed to purposefully triggering it.

Re: Shiver me timbers!

Hmm, you're certainly painting a different kind of picture there, mate! I'm semi-day-dreaming of eventually buying a boat and offing back to Australia on it.. the SMBO's not too keen on the idea so it's not exactly progressing quickly, but hey, a guy's gotta have a dream! And a Cobby-3 is still a lo...

Re: Oolite scales (no, honest, read it!)

It has to be borne in mind that these ships are generally a "commander's" home, where they are going to spend 90% of their time. I personally think that that may certainly be true for some of the ships (eg, FDL, Cobra3, definitely the bigger freighters) but almost as certainly not for oth...

when you least want an accidental misjump to occur,
It's commonly acknowledged that forcing misjumps was a debug feature whose removal was forgotten in the orginal versions of Elite.
