Wikipedia icon
I was just notified that the current Oolite icon on Wikipedia has “no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.” I have no interest in jumping through bureaucratic hoops for an outdated icon, but if anyone wants to fix this and use the current icon, here ar...

Re: Scripters cove
If you call methods in the world script like this:
…then
Code: Select all
var myWorldScript = worldScripts["jh145_myWorldScript"];
myWorldScript.$myMethod(...);
this
will be the worldscript inside $myMethod

Re: Are OXZ's an improvement ...
I can see no point to zipping expansions, except for delivering a single file download. I maintain that OXPs appearing as a single file after download by default, consistently across platforms, is a major advantage for non-technical users, and this was the original point. (Quite often, an OXP downl...

Re: Trunk nightly
This is why a lot of functions in built-in scripts are named even though they’re never called by name. :-)

Re: Oolite in the cloud
Just noticed one problem on the lion OS. My AddOns folder is in the library. The libraries are hidden. But, to link the cloud to the local AddOns folder, I had to select it through the file dialog. I did see no way to make the library visible in the file dialog. But, by adding the AddOns folder fir...

Re: Are OXZ's an improvement ...
Then why do I include texture templates, original .obj files, and explicitly state in my OXPs that making changes to them are, in fact, highly encouraged? I'm an adult, I neither need, nor want, anyone telling me what I can and can't access or change in MY game. This is fine and of course nobody ca...

Re: Impossible space engine, that apparently works
This space drive may well be up there with perpetual motion machines and room temperature superconductors. But science is a box that encompasses our current knowledge. Granted as the years go by the box gets bigger It’s more useful to think of science as a loose wrapper that encompasses the true na...

Re: Impossible space engine, that apparently works
either there is sufficient evidence, or there is not. Well, in those terms, there is not. There is not enough evidence to even vaguely justify speculative articles at this point. The lab did brief tests on two models, one which was supposed to “work” and one dummy. Both produced apparent thrust in ...

Re: Impossible space engine, that apparently works
Well there is clearly something needing to be explained here. As something is occurring that should not be able to happen in relation to our understanding of the universe. We face one of 2 options, one much less horrific than the other. 1) It's a con. 2) a lot of very clever people who rely on bein...

Re: Impossible space engine, that apparently works
All this really seems to be is an experimental demonstration of the position long held by physicists that photons have inertia. Like the old "solar sail" that NASA are always going to build real soon now. No, not really. In the unlikely event that it holds up, it’s violating the principle...

Re: Are OXZ's an improvement ...
The list is already bigger than about half the OXPs available through it. It should be easy to add an "N days old" notice for it, though. The current list zips down to 30 kB. I don’t think this is anywhere near large enough to justify using stale data when the player has explicitly entere...

Re: Split: Stable and Trunk
On the Mac, if you put your OXPs in the default location (~/Library/Application Support/Oolite/AddOns), they will be shared.
