Re: Passenger Ship

I like this idea. I recommend at least 2 tons of spare space for picking up escape pods.

Re: Passenger Ship

The Wolf Mk II is also a good ship - though it's flown by some very disreputable pilots. I've heard rumours of this ship, I'm surprised I didn't look into it! Definitely on my wishlist now. I got in a bit of a financial crisis and couldn't afford a Cobra Mk II at this point, but I am working on fix...

The Python is a pretty good ship for its price.
It is indeed! I have spent a decent amount of time in one. It is a little cumbersome, however. I would love something small, maybe even as small as a 10 ton hold, but also fast and powerful

Passenger Ship

I was thinking. Is there a good ship for passenger carrying? I mean a ship that is preferably fast, good for fighting through to wherever is needed, and has enough space for a passenger berth? I don't see much of this in the original ships. The Cobra MkIII is fits this description and is great, but ...

Re: Beginners/Newcomers Installation

Unfortunately, reading anything is on the decline and is pretty unlikely to start picking back up again. This is true. However, Oolite (especially when you first start) is the sort of slow-paced game which is, I think, also on the decline with the popularity of action-adventure games and first pers...

Re: Beginners/Newcomers Installation

As I briefly discussed in the quoted post, I discovered Oolite by just googling for good, free games that run on Mac OSX. As I am a teenager, I had never heard of Oolite or Elite before. I downloaded the game and could immediately tell it is a cool game, but didn't know how to do anything other than...

Re: Any advice?

I remember how long it took to figure out how to do anything. All I could do was putter around the Lave Coriolis station and fire lasers. When I kept getting slaughtered I decided this isn't a game you can just figure out on your own, at least not without great difficulty. There's also cim's in-gam...

Re: Dangerous cargo - OXP idea.

I would rather have cargo that is dangerous in a different way. For instance, say you take a cargo contract for 110 tons of furs and it turns out to be narcotics, and you are being used to unwittingly smuggle illegal goods. Realistic trading risks, if you will.

Got it, thanks! I had already tried changing shipdata, but didn't realize I had to find the file that goes with Griff's shipset.

Re: Financial Advice

Update time! I got the Adder. I couldn't make any money from asteroids because I kept getting fined for fuel leaks (from an OXP). I'm a bit frustrated with this tin can. I want to keep going with it, however, as one of the cool things about Oolite is the realism. And in real life shit happens, as th...

Re: Hello Ooniverse!

I believe I have read that kills are counted by the enemy ship, with some sort of sensor. This sensor then sends data to the database, giving you your rating. This sensor isn't incredibly accurate, for instance you aren't given the kill if you are cloaked, and it doesn't detect legal status. This wo...

Re: Financial Advice

The Cobra MkI is a tad too expensive for a barebones MkIII trade in or I would have done it. Unfortunately Aronar is a bit quiet and not a lot of people I can hitch a ride with. I do like that idea though. I think will be patient and wait for someone's wormhole and keep going until I find an Adder.

I recently fell out of the habit and haven't played for months until this week. Up and running again, though!
