Whilst on the subject of copyright speculation etc, and in the mood of kicking sleeping dogs etc :D Does Ian Bell still have any rights to making an elite sequel himself if he desired? I know there was some sort of deal worked out when Ian wasnt keen on finishing the development of frontier, but Im ...

No ***Elite*** display?

The other night whilst watching a film, I hit upon a sudden idea, I wanted to see what "happened" when a pilot hits elite in oolite. I think I was expecting something other than a rank change after having seen the elite display in elite+. To this end I cheated, but in a way I considered un...

Holdstock has already been discussed in this thread, about 10 or so posts above. I still think that unless anyone is a lawyer, or has contacted one, or has discussed any of this with any of the relevant players (Holdstock, B&B or anyone else) then this is all just hot air and speculation. I agr...

Im not sure but I seem to remember my copy of the novella stated on the back that copyright belonged to acornsoft, is it possible that Holdstock sold all his rights to acornsoft? or is it the norm for (C) messages to be the publisher not the author? I have to confess Ive never really paid much atten...

OK I felt Part 4 was too short an introduction I extended it to 4.1 Which I hope builds up more of a picture of the two characters and their relationship.

My wife has informed me that my written humour doesnt live up to my "live" humour :( ah well at least shes honest about it.

OK 4th part up, and spell checked :D. This one managed to be completely derailed from what I had expected courtesy of the ingame gazateer pointing it to an attempt at humour... Some lines are "temporary" awaiting replacing with proper dialogue when Ive got a copy of frontier running in fro...

Another excellent installment. Some intruiging new avenues opening up.

I particularly liked that last line. :D

It struck a chord for a reason that will hopefully come clear before too long

I once gave compiling from trunk a go, but ran into some problems with the one guide I tried following, something wasnt happy with vista 64 and I didnt have the spare time to figure it out. This installer has given me a chance to test out trunk.

Great stuff, Still like the way your stuff looks on the page as well as the way you get the story down in so few words.

Relax. We're enjoying the read. Have confidence in yourself, your characters and your story. Sometimes we read without commenting. ( Perhaps we feel our first comments don't need repetition, elaboration or editing, eh? ) Apologies, Its hard to know how well things work with just my words recording ...

I wouldnt see games devs as being up to banking and global finance. I don't see banks and governments as being up to banking and global finance, if it comes to that. :D I think a lot of problems seem to stem from level-grinding. Is it necessary to create "levels"? Is this not just a hango...

But the root of what I thought I was arguing against was a free market of in-game cash in the real world, and the ability to buy your way out of grind. People do is not the same as people should. Examples might include rape and murder ;) Why do you keep linking to gold farming and levelling service...

No real world body is going to recognise a currency that is owned by a game company any time soon, in any meaningful way. No right minded currency trader is going to touch game currencies. This is no more sensible that trading EVE corporation stock on AIM. In the case you are describing, all that h...

Right, like I already agreed, people will pay for stuff, ringtones, skins, content unlocks and so on. They will even pay for a collectors edition with a different coloured box. This surprises noone. The only question I have ever attempted to raise is if people should pay real money for game-money o...
