Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Okay, I'm thinking of a book where the protagonists are, in a manner of speaking, on an island where the primitive natives might make wooden aeroplanes, and where said protagonists do end up finding a wooden aeroplane - a very large one which actually does fly. Title and authors, please?

Re: An interstellar visitor

The asteroid, named ‘Oumuamua by its discoverers, is up to one-quarter mile (400 meters) long and highly-elongated—perhaps 10 times as long as it is wide. That aspect ratio is greater th...

Re: Space elevator

No, space doesn't work like that - there is gravity as long as you're anywhere near a planet or a star, which heavily restricts how real spacecraft behave, and also, a rocket's fuel is a huge component of its mass and most of a Saturn V's take-off weight was fuel + somewhere to put it. In order to ...

Re: Evil tree wolfs

Clearly there has been some linguistic drift over the centuries, and what they are now calling "tree wolfs" are the creatures that, in a more primitive time and place, were known as "drop bears". :D

Hiya, pressure from whom, may I ask?
The powers that be.

Cheers,

Drew.
Ah, on account of your writing official E:D fiction as well, I guess? Nothing to worry about as far as my bumbling efforts are concerned, then.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Okay then. Similar theme: why should Qadgop the Mercotan have died horribly? This is the alien in the novel Kimball Kinnison writes, isn't it? As I recall, he touches neutronium, which is only stable at hundreds of gravities, which should have pulled him in and squashed him to a uniform layer of mo...
