Thanks guys, all sorted. I think my mistake stemmed from the fact that the WIKI refers to the name which I took to be the name entry within the definition rather than the name of the definition. Interesting how it appeared to work with the hythen though, both with the demo screen and in-game proper.

Error with 'like_ship" statement
Not sure is this is new, searching for ' like_ship ' brought back too many responses to check them all. In another thread I've been pointed towards the ' like_ship ' statement in order to simplify my shipdata.plist file. Especially when defining several versions of the same vessel. I have found that...

The method I've used to produce off center firing points is to create a very small sub-entity and mount a laser on that. The technique was originally nicked from the Imperial Courier model but also used by several others. By using the small sub-entity it doesn't have to be a consideration when desig...

I still have my slide-rule. I also used to have a cylindrical slide rule which worked exactly as a standard rule but the log scales wound up in a spiral. I donated it to my then school, which I now regret as I've never seen a similar one since. It also extended out to a fair degree (think telescope ...

Re: Sure - suggestions...
Agreed, but this would have little to no visible effect, as far as a game like Oolite is concerned. The planet would still exist, there would be no explosion, even no change in texture, if we are talking about the built-in textures. Everything would be exactly the same before and after. Okay, you c...
