Re: Looking for multiplayer 3D space shooter
I'm reminded of a fun 2D game on the Amiga called Blastaball. You fly a little spaceship-like thing in an arena and run into or shoot at a giant puck (or your opponent to knock him off his line), trying to move it into a goal. I loved that game.

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Some more work on the Asp today. Whiter (though less uniform), bluer, painted bottom panels, unpainted screws, and the logo added. The gold part of the logo was made highly reflective. These pictures are from using the default shader. Eventually I'll switch it over to use a modified Griff shader to ...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Oh, absolutely, and the Omega should definitely be used (not black-on-black, though, because it would be practically invisible) Pshaw! That's what specular mapping is for. I'm thinking a matte-black ship (well, dark dark grey), but a glossy black logo. It'll look fine -- and quite cool if the logo'...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
I'm partial to the blue background and white planet. I think that would look best on a white ship with blue trim. (The "star" looks almost like a Mandelbrot set image... that might be a cool logo to stick in there, actually.) Since you mentioned the Constrictor should be black (or near eno...

Re: [RELEASE] WildShips OXP
Are you familiar with how the Kiota stations are put together? Is this something you could do and give to pleb for incorporation in the OXP? Like Thargoid said, having each side look different would require a complete re-model. The same bit of texture is applied on both sides, I'm pretty sure. Pain...

Re: Tinkerer's Workshop - OXP tweaking for fun and profit!
While I've made major texture/shader changes to a few, which are beyond the scope of this thread, here are a couple minor changes to text files. OXP: In-System Taxi 1.2.2 Changing lines 160 and 161 of taxi_worldscripts.js to: var name = global.randomName() +" "+ global.randomName(); this.$...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Maybe a bit too much with the Anaconda. Used a template from dertien that had a lot of bits cut out already so different panels could be painted. The blue down the middle is my own thing though. I should add blue down the back as well rather than stop it where it is. Maybe; I dunno. http://www.keepe...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
A quick first-draft for a white Asp. It has blue down the middle. It may not be quite white enough, as it looks a little bit metallic in the screen shot, though seems OK in motion. Perhaps a bit more white and a bit less specular mapping would be best. The picture is both with shaders (Extra Detail)...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
As for the remark about decals requiring shaders, well, as all Navy ships would have the decal, it would be put on the diffuse texture itself and not applied as a decal through a shader. We still could add a bonus for shader users -- ship names and serial numbers, or different amounts of mini Thargo...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Just to through a curveball into the logo mix (I'm American, so I can use a baseball reference!): A crown might be a bit "racist" in that perhaps not all species are physically capable of wearing one, and/or may not have crowns in their culture. Maybe a design that somehow incorporates the...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
On another note. Anyone here capable of making textures and logos for HIMSN. When the discussions took a break I was looking at "Imperial White". Something like this: http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/gimi1967/HIMSN/th_0709.png Not sure how that would look "non shaded" th...

Re: [RELEASE] WildShips OXP
Sent my updates to Thargoid for inclusion in an update. Here's a few more shots, showing the metallic appearance, the reflection of the solar panels, the emission map of the research station and some bump mapping. Note however that these shots were taken on an Oolite installation with ambient_level ...

Re: KeeperHUD (for widescreen)
Ah, I guess I misunderstood what was meant by the note I saw about 64-bit being the primary Windows platform now, then. I thought that meant only 64-bit was getting the regular updates.

Re: [RELEASE] WildShips OXP
Normal maps and specular maps are fun! Shiny! and dishy! http://www.keeper1st.com/Oolite/wskiotarelay.png Notice how the dishes are lit all in the same direction. The texture and the specular map is pretty much a flat grey now; it's entirely the normal map that makes it look dish-shaped and react to...

Re: KeeperHUD (for widescreen)
Yeah, JazHaz, keeping up to date on a Windows PC is easy now with cwRsync. I have a batch file on my machine. Double-click and it updates only the files that have changed since last time. (The Windows trunk build updates are for 64-bit Windows only now, so maybe that's what you mean by them stopping...
