Re: Oolite 1.80 - wow!

I want to thank the community for this fantastic game. Yesterday I installed the new Version 1.8 under Windows on my old iMac. Sadly, Mac OS doesn't recognize my Trustmaster gamepad, Windows does. It's now no problem to dock on a station without the docking computer. With keyboard only it was a litt...

Re: How I discovered Oolite...

Too many people my age sit in front of the telly for hours watching the rot that is broadcast these days. Sorry, being a german with school-enlish, I can't write my thoughts well in english. I don't even own a TV-set any more, internet is my TV. Buying a game-console may change this. My frien...

Re: OXP giving me a reason to leave galaxy one

The Oresrati Challenge I'll try it. Thank you for that note. My next 'quest' is giving version 1.77.x.x.x a chance, the last nightly version is running on my Mac. :D I'm afraid of some time for updating but I think it is worth to do this. Martin Update finished one and a half ours later. I hope.

G7 is interesting. But I've been never in the mood to play a nagatv character. Sorry. I don't have to compensate something.

OXP giving me a reason to leave galaxy one

Hello, I'm in search of the ultimativ Oolite-feeling. Is there any OXP giving me a true goal to visit all 8 galaxies? Reading the official list of OXPs I've come to the conclusion most of them are made for galaxy one. I found "Explorer's Club", but is there anything else which give's me a ...

Re: 1.77 test for Mac

I've just installed oolite-trunk-1.77.1.5626-dev, so I can enjoy the new version.
Are there any enhancements in the graphics-engine? Version 1.76.1 shows the maximum of 59 fps, this dev-version 99 to 103, same configuration, no OXPs. Is this a bug or a real improovement?

Re: Hardware Guide

Liners OXP uses some pretty big textures (2048x2048), which of course use up a lot of graphics memory. Try resizing them to 1024x1024. You don't lose too much quality, but suddenly you get away with using just a quarter of the original memory. Of course, with downsizing to 512x512 you'd only use 1/...

Re: How I discovered Oolite...

Long time ago, in a world without internet, I played Elite on my Amstrad CPC 464 (the German version sold by Schneider). It was great. Finally Elite was my first game on my Atari ST, followed by Elite II Frontier. Frontier was the one and only game taking advantage of the accelerator-board (28 MHz)....

Re: Hardware Guide

Welcome aboard, Teschnertron... Have you tried the Griff no-shaders shipset? I'll plug it anyway... ideal for low-performance GPUs. Of course I've installed them. Cool stuff. 8) I've tried the first link at the wiki "OXP's you must have". Only the "Liners-OXP'" gives me the same...

Re: Hardware Guide

I play on a MacBook 13" mid 2010 with the Nvidia 320M Windows 7 64-bit and have realized that I cannot install any OXPs that use shaders because it will grind the FPS down to 4 everytime I face more than 4 ships. Normal FPS is around 60. It's a bit of a shame seeing as I have the feeling that ...
