Just an update on this issue:

I have just updated to 1.72 and to the latest ATI drivers but the problem still remains

Start > Run - type DXDiag <enter>

This will tell you how much video ram your graphics card has.

Have just tried Omega drivers for Win XP 32 and I can confirm that this fixes the problem!

I'll just have to hope that the Vista 32 ones come out soon...
(although I could try reverting to an earlier version, but that seems a little extreme for the sake of one game)

Thanks, another_commander. v1.65 still works fine, but the .exe you sent me which uses the 1.65 sky code does not. I will try to fall back to older drivers too and try the omega drivers on win XP...

I'm not even sure any of my other games use OGL... There must be something that's changing which making it stop working. There is a variable somewhere, I just don't know what it is. No, there's definately nothing wrong with my computer. It's a Core 2 Duo so the CPU runs pretty low temp anyway (CPU <40c / GPU < 42c). Anyway everything else runs okay, including games, and I doubt Oolite could really push the PC anyway. I am going to try moving it to a different HDD just to see......

Tried a re-install to no avail. Also my pc will play other, more demanding games with no problems started up immediately after Oolite has gone wrong,so I don't think there is an overheat issue or anything wrong with my hardware. My CPU and GPU run at pretty low temps (<50c).
