Re: Oolite for Android please

Hi Moidebe -- and all others, as a matter of fact, I just completed a new test build of Alite, and now's the time to test as many different Android devices as possible with that build :). So, yes, by all means: If anyone else wants to test, please do PM me. Moidebe, you'll receive download links via...

:) -- Yeah, I have the notification enabled. What I meant was: "Can I make this post 'beep' in the inbox of the missing artists?" (Tried to make a joke here, obviously I failed... Sorry...)

Re: Oolite ships in Alite: Help...

Well, I contacted everyone on the list (that is, if I found the screen name) and indeed: ClymAngus already replied (and from his side, I'm allowed to use his model! Thanks!!)
Now, hopefully, some of the other artists find this thread :) [Can I make it beep somehow??! :))]

Oolite ships in Alite: Help...

Hi, Alite is coming soon (Oolite for Android; see here or visit the homepage here ). I'd like to include several of the Oolite ships distributed in expansion packs and therefore I'd like to ask the authors for their (explicit) permission: Most of the ships are released under CC, but I really don't w...

Re: Oolite for Android please

Good catch, Commander_X, the intro was indeed based on MW2 :). When I first saw the MW2 intro back in -- umm... when?? 199x?? -- I thought that I want to make a game like this... Well. 20-25 years later the intro does not quite have this 'wow'-effect anymore, but it's still good. The intro for Alite...

Re: Oolite for Android please

Cool! :) You shouldn't have to wait too long, now...

I should add that Alite is inspired by Oolite, but since my Objective-C is pretty lousy, I didn't look too closely at the code... :)

Re: Oolite for Android please

Well, it depends how far you'd interpret "internal mechanics" :). If you consider a bare Oolite, without any OXP, and start trading, exploring, and shooting enemy ships, then you could say Alite is pretty much exactly that -- with some "hidden features" that come as a surprise.

Re: Oolite for Android please

Hi guys, sorry it took so long :), but coming August, I am going to release Alite: A heavily Oolite inspired game for Android. It uses several of the original ships and Griff has helped with modeling high-resolution ships for the intro, too... Also, everyone here on the forums has been a great help ...

Re: Visibility of other ships

Interesting. It's good to know that you have similar problems seeing the ships but stood up to the challenge... I'll try telescope, though...
And I'll experiment with various ship designs...

Re: Visibility of other ships

Hmm... Ok. Thanks for your input.
@another_commander: Well, I find them alright (as in: I know they're there, right in front of me), but I don't really see them...

But if you don't find it hard, I guess it really needs some time to "cross over" from the Amiga :)

Thx!

Visibility of other ships

Hi, I am (very) new to Oolite and moved over to it from playing the Amiga version of Elite on my emulator. While I am slowly getting the hang of things, there remains one thing, which really annoys me: I can hardly see enemy ships in the distance. My question, as a spoiled Amiga player, where ships ...

Re: Amiga Elite (from the Frontier Forums)

Ian (Bell) replied to the subject of galaxy 9: "6. We did put a "Welcome to Galaxy 9" message in 6502 Elite if Gaaxy Nine was entered (required very little memory), but no way to get to galaxy 9. This was incase we wanted to later distribute saved game positions in Galaxy 9 , or to &q...
