Re: Best sources on Elite game design
Soleuser This planet is most fabled for its inhabitants' ingrained shyness but cursed by dreadful solar activity.
Anyway, back to the original request, a page with info on Classic Elite ship fire power.

Re: EU referendum
If all we want from the EU is Single Market access, then EFTA is probably a better fit for us, Totally agree, the loss of sovereignty at Maastricht (i.e. who sets the V.A.T. rate) was unforgivable and now is the only chance to reset the relationship. I think the boats on the Thames was a hoot, both...

Re: Best sources on Elite game design
nice article, but it mentions the planet Arse , which is not in the released BBC Disk version. You can do a search on the list at Classic Elite planets . The digrams AR , SE , could occur in the planet descriptions but not in the main planet names . Some trivia, did you know the Moray is flying back...

Re: Best sources on Elite game design
In addition there is a lot of information on the different versions archived at AFE FAQ.
For some information on the A.I. used in the Classic version see entry on Classic's entity states.

Planet description tables
Hello, I created a set of tables at Planet description tables that summarize the default planet descriptions with a maximum 3-letter code. For example Tibedied in Galaxy 1 has a default Oolite description of, This planet is most notable for Tibediedian Arma brandy but scourged by deadly edible grubs...

Re: Bank accounts and galactic jumps
For galactic jumps I think encouraging rather than discouraging them is the way to go, ie keep your GalCop credits. In Elite-B a galactic jump can be either forwards or backwards depending on whether you were flying towards or away from the sun. In addition you could buy multiple drives at once, eac...

Re: Distant Stars [Test release 0.0.3]
Hello Rustem nice work, another scheme you can consider is for the sun size/colour to be 'almost orthogonal' to the other system parameters by using the highest nibble of the sixth system seed, discussed under Default Suns , which would make it mostly independent of the planet radius, economy, name ...

Re: Retro BBC micro Elite
Wow, I never expected this to make it onto a PSP. the download for v4 is being flagged as Firefox as malware and so refuses to save it I don't have that problem with Safari or FireFox on a Mac, have you been able to download v.4 some other way, or stuck on v.3 ? I understand that ELITE-A use...

Default Suns
I was trying to understand what determines the Oolite default Sun size and colours, is the following correct? Sun radius is *2 the planet radius Sun hue is random upon each visit to that system? No connection between radius and hue? Sun to planet distance is 20* planet radius? For BBC retro Elite-B ...

Re: Retro BBC micro Elite
A version 4 posted at https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqov1w8wqustpl6/EliteB_v4.zip?dl=0 Includes the Cougar, a suitably rare ship, and improved visibility for the Python. I.F.F. system can distinguish between police and bounty hunters, also between thargons and debris. I.F.F. Price reduced but no longer ...

Re: The beginning of the game is too slow -- any workaround?
I tested now: to arrive into the masslock of main station in Zaonce need 2 minutes including 2 masslocks from ships (I leaved these in a few seconds with instant turnback), a proper docking (next to buoy before turn back so no shortcut) was 1.5 minutes. Then after refuel I go to Isinor in about the...

Re: Galacitic Map(s)
not that I should be encouraging this but ... each chart doesn't have to be limited to 256 stars. The random number generator http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Random_number_generator keeps on going and after 32,768 you would be back, e.g.Tibedied in Chart1. So the seeds for Chart 1 could create a 'r...
