Re: Clarification on Advanced Navigation Array route plannin

Thanks switeck, it's years since I did any coding other than php and python scripts but the development for Oolite fascinates me and I would be very interested actually to look at how you are tackling this. Its probably a bit advanced place to start looking at working on oolite but I am intrigued - ...

Clarification on Advanced Navigation Array route planning

How does the ANA calculate the two routes? How is shortest time and shortest distance compared? Obviously we would make our own variations on the basis of trade preferences given cargo or aversion to pirates etc... Just wondering about the two modes that are mapped out with the ANA. I am doing a fai...

Sounds of Silence - a concept on sound

Hail spacers, Just a thought - one of the things that most annoys me about sci-fi films is when they persist in populating vacuum with sound - explosions, jet thrust, motors and sirens etc. There is nothing more effective in my opinion than deftly using the sound of a space craft interior with its p...

Re: Mac OSX and Joystick

Yes for a cheap solution it rocks, I'm carving up offenders again :D
Makes such a difference to me.
Definitely works straight out of the box on Mac. Button count just starts at 1 instead of 0 - I guess a bit like the Mac approach to the Ethernet controllers eth0 vs en1 lol

Re: Mac OSX and Joystick

I have found a shop with Attack3 available and I think I'll try that and see what milage I get - been reading some threads here where some notable commanders are happy with it, including your good self Gimi!

Re: Mac OSX and Joystick

Hey Gimi, that's a great stick system - wow - can't see a price but I bet its out of my range too! Interesting if you go up one level and look at platforms the Mac is not even listed and under Multi-Platform there are no joysticks... Classic - I can't understand why something as essential an input d...

Mac OSX and Joystick

Hail and well met fellow 'farers, When I originally played Elite I used an Apple ][ stick - similar to an RC thumb/pinch stick. I had a friend who swore by the keyboard. Now Macs seem to be notorious for ignoring game controllers in system prefs, drivers and so forth - so much so that I have not loo...

Re: Very happy with my Decal!

Thanks DH - I'm chuffed with it - funny how you end up spending so much time on things like this that you never really get to look at in the gameplay.... as has been said lately - its the game in the mind that is what the software is the interface for! "...The life of the mind? I'll show you th...

Re: Consensus on base set of oxps

Got it. Loving the set I've got now. Thanks for all the help guys.
I'll post a snap of what I've ended up with for future reference.
I know all this gets repeated and done to death but I really appreciate the friendly advice and patience.

Re: Very happy with my Decal!

Had fun with this - but couldn't quite master the positioning - I think the relative positioning with the two coordinates is not easy to visualise as it is not square to the ship but to the UV or some other such modelling jiggery-pokery and yet I am happy with the results and will stop stuffing arou...

Very happy with my Decal!

At last I have personalised my Cobra - always wanted to do this and thanks to Griff and the hard work and loyalty of everyone here and on the dev team I can! Very happy with the results! This is the flaky eagle decal snapped off my old Toyota LandCruiser BJ42LX; another supremely high utility vehicl...

Looks like it was some conflict with system redux? I have started pulling them in and out and restarting with shift down and system redux seemed to be overriding...

The rest of the OXPs back in and now seems to be still ok
