Re: Didi you play Elite?
When I was a little boy (around 10) my dad worked for heathrow airport and was involved in the development of CCTV and flight information boards (the old flapboards). These were all controlled with a BBC B (via some very clever programmers) and he was allowed to take the development BBC B home every...

Re: Tab Picture.
When I open a tab on most websites they have a small logo of the site in the tab section next to their name. It would be cool if the BB had a logo pic also. How problematic would that be? I think a favicon for both the forum and the wiki would be an excellent idea. I like to have a quick launch bar...

Re: Oolite Darwin Awards
Whilst jumping between Anerat and Leonus in G6 I had my first non-self-triggered mis jump. Exciting, I thought - a pair of Thargoids and associated drones, a chance to get a couple of kills and some alien items. It was a short jump so I had plenty of fuel left. Coming out of the mis-jump I found mys...

Re: E-reader advice
Cheers for taking the time to explain the situation, Disembodied - its been really helpful. :) Its so disappointing that amazon have such a hold over the device - I find the actual hardware excellent but I'm really not keen on their control. I've got a paperwhite and using it as a reader for content...

Re: E-reader advice
How do these licensing rules for amazon content work with regards to the format? I'm now using an amazon paperwhite but managed through claibre (mainly as I'm enjoying oolite fiction etc that isn't available through Amazon) - its a great piece of kit that has transformed the way i read. Recently I a...

Re: Extracts from the Tre Clan Addresses on Interplanetary L
I read this last night - excellent work Cim.
I really like the way you've presented it as a series of lecture notes - a clever twist on the story telling and an interesting slant of life in the ooniverse, particularly regarding the passage of time.
Cheers for the great read

Re: Dangerous Moonlight
I just though I'd give a bit of feedback on the stories and post the response to Ships That Pass In The Night , Steel Thunder & Dangerous Moonlight here as I'm being a bit lazy! I've been reading the 3 stories over the past week and was totally enthralled - I love your gritty explanation of the ...

Re: Dangerous Moonlight
Hi Malacandra.
I've had a quick look and these look like great stories, and I'm looking forward to reading them in full - would you mind if I converted them to something like a pdf so that I can read them when I'm not online? No problem if not, it's just I don't want to get rumbled at work Cheers.

Re: E-reader advice
Thats brilliant Disembodied! I wish RL™ had a "change setting to space" button -it'd make dealing with clients and builders a lot easier if I could communicate with them via the medium of deep space communications and a military laser! (although the "zombies" button and a cricket...

Re: E-reader advice
Thanks for your comments about the ereaders, CommRLock78 & Wolfwood. I've been getting on very well over the last week with calibre on my old netbook reading for an hour or so each night (finished Coyote and now on to Incursio). The major issue is the battery life on the netbook which has got do...

Re: E-reader advice
Cheers disembodied. It was the proprietry file format thing that i was most trying to steer clear from. I also agree that a reader is dead end tech but I do prefer (and i'm probably in the minority here ;) ) to have 1 device for each purpose rather than 1 device that does everything - I think I'm to...

Re: E-reader advice
For encounters in its full glory pdf is probably best, but I'll be customising the book for each format, hopefully. Plain text novels are most convenient in kindle or epub format. Thank you Selezen. I've been thinking about this a bit and I'll be using the device to view monochrome books only. Your...

E-reader advice
Hi all, I'd be grateful for a bit of advice regarding e-readers... I've been enjoying reading some of the oolite fiction as pdf's on my computer which works o.k. but reading on the fairly bulky laptop is not ideal. I've also pledged for a couple of E:D fiction kickstarters that will be published in ...
