That sword is ridiculous. Have you ever see any weapon more likely to maim its owner rather than his enemy?
My thought too. I can't see how you can avoid mutilation using it in a fight.

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

I doubt that solo online equals single player. So i will pass too, unless proven wrong <wishfull thinking>.

On the bright side Oolite looks and feels even better on the rig i have build for ED :D

I have the same stick. I have set the range on all axes to 6 and i don't have to mess with deadzones. It works better this way for me.

With the money saved I am replacing CPU with an i7 4790k 4.0Ghz.
In turbo boost mode it clocks at 4.4Ghz. As for O/C all modern CPUs have thermal cutouts for protection. The worst thing that can happen is that you can't boot and in that case you revert to the default settings.

Re: i5 or i7 Quad Core Processor?

Nice system. I am waiting for a review when you get your hands on it. It is close to what i am building.
The PSU will come in handy in the future and more RAM didn't hurt anybody.

PS: I don't thing you will have problem playing Oolite

Re: i5 or i7 Quad Core Processor?

I mean you don't need a M/B with onboard GPU for backup. I am aiming to a GTX 770 too.

Re: i5 or i7 Quad Core Processor?

GTX 770 (and GTX 780) have minimum power requirements a system with 600W PSU so it will be ok a 650W. But i went to a 760W to be in the safe side.

I am leaning towards i7 4790K with the on die GPU (no need for a GPU on the M/B).

You can test that bundle before fitting it into the case too - simply jump-start the mobo (with it connected to the PSU, of course).
That's the way i do it. Especially when i am troubleshooting and i have to test many parts.

@ StathisR: you can test the PSU with the old paper-clip trick and a case fan - google it.
Good to know. Thanks
