My Oolite is dark and with NO nebulae etc

Hi. I have 1.72.2 pc version of Oolite but this has been bothering me for quite some time.... Everything is fine except the background is VERY dark. It's not gamma, I have a few stars here and there but they are dim. It just doesn't look like space. I see a great picture here.... http://developer.be...

Thanks for the response.

To help anyone else who may have this problem it was as simple as this...

Ensure that your joystick is selected as a 'pref device' in control panel.

All is fine now.

How silly of me.

Joystick not functioning in 1.72 ?

Hi.

My joystick works fine in 1.65 but in 1.72 the option is there for 'Joystick Configuration' but is greyed out and can not be used.

Is there a remedy for this please ??

Regarding the lack of ships in deep-space...

It seems to me that any activity is limited almost exclusively to the space lane between the witchpoint beacon and the planet. There are no ships in deep-space, none at all. Whilst I understand the advantages of this with the Jump trick to avoid ships in the corridor, I must say that I feel that the...

Too few stars, too little space debris ?

Is it just me ? Seems awfully dark, not in the 'gamma/brightness/contrast' way but too 'empty'. Yes I know space is very empty when comparing matter to anti-matter etc but even so. If this is merely my ignorance and I am missing something then please tell me. If not, and perhaps some feel the same, ...

Has Oolite development come to an end ?

Is it ?

v1.69 is in testing I see but I'm sure I read that the dev is putting it on ice.

Making a BBC B virtual disk image ?

Following the very helpful response to this post ; https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=3802 I have a 5.25" disk version game that I want to run on BeebEm. The file itself (zipped) is 83K and I have extracted all the data but the trouble is I have no clue how to make a folder to act as a dis...

Thank you very much, that is the one, bingo!

Yes, it did require the 16k sideways ram, that's right.

I very much appreciate your time.

Now I will fire up BeebEm and run the image, just for old time's sake.

Anyone remember the 'Underwater Elite' game for the BBC B ?

I have been trying to think of the name of this game for a long time now. It came out towards the later years of the BBC micro. Tbh it was an Elite clone but the big difference was that it was set underwater and instead of having space-stations etc there were underwater ports and bouys and things. I...
