Re: KDE Sound server caused oolite to crash
Now, the simple solution is to go into the KDE control centre -> Sound and Multimedia -> Sound System, and check the box labelled Auto-Suspend and set that to one second. Thanks. That seems to work! If you're building your own debs I'd suggest keeping the last stableish set you built around just in...

Re: OpenGL
Some tweak factors are unfortunately necessary. I'm going to have to add another for shaders. However, an "even lower detail" one would not only make configuration more complicated, it would fail to achieve much. At low detail, the game reduces the distance at which objects are drawn and ...

Re: OpenGL
Would it be possible to add a feature to reduce the amount of displayable things to the bare minimum? Yes, but it would be bad design and a bunch of extra work, with little gain. Adding extra options and tweak factors is a Bad Thing from a user experience point of view, and there’s just no way the ...

Suicide bombers
There is something I have seen a few times too many, and do not understand. I approach a station, go by the nav buoy not to look too suspicious, and then, out of the station comes a small ship, and crashes straight into the buoy. It is such a small target, that I would think any pilot could tilt the...

Re: Offender
Welcome to the boards, heikki III! Every young Jameson gains at least an Offender status at least once in their career. It's no great harm in the long run, a few hyperspace jumps between systems and keeping your nose clean (no shipping 'pharmaceuticals', you rascal!) and GalCop tend to clear your r...

OpenGL
Regardless of platform, Oolite requires OpenGL hardware acceleration and doesn't play well with software rendering at all. Would it be possible to add a feature to reduce the amount of displayable things to the bare minimum? Sure the game would not look as great, but at least it could be made playa...

Offender
Hello, all ye old traders! I am still pretty new in this business, and have come to ask you for a little bit of help. You see, in my young days, while still trying to learn the ways of the traders, I thought I could make a great profit in pharmaceuticals. I should have known better, as the unfriendl...

KDE Sound server caused oolite to crash
Hi, When running under 1.65 under Debian/Etch and KDE, it crashed upon startup. Disabling KDE's sound server made it work much better. The sound works too! Probably an old issue, as I am running from what Debian gives me, which is always some versions behind the real life. But if you still need it, ...

Re: Can't dock.
The ship always crashes when I try to dock, although the speed and direction are fine. Looks like the dock model is wrong in the Linux version (1.65 / 1.69). It is impossible to enter a station. I had the same problem, running Debian Etch and KDE. Then I installed the nvidia drivers, and suddenly i...
