Re: Indepth guide of ship concept creation for total idiots
A most well thought out space game was I-War (I thought). All ships were based on the ring accelerator principle which spewed ions from an exhaust port thus propelling the ship. Cannon were also powered by ions bled from the main ring. The particle ring was the most massive component of any ship to ...

Re: Consistently short changed by gal cop
Yeah, I've scooped up escape pods containing a slave escaping from a pirate ship that I turned into debris and now I read about the hostages it explains an odd occurrence or three. Nice touch 8) Just sometimes I find an escape pod or cargo pod that outruns me at full speed even with the Q-Charger ya...

[Re-release] Long Range Scanner
Hi, I wanted to do something useful so I had a crack at extending the functionality of Okti's Long Range Scanner. I would appreciate any feedback and will try my best to correct any errors. The revision can be downloaded from: http://www.AirWare.webspace.virginmedia.com/LongRangeScanner%20v0.311.zip

Re: Niel Armstrong’s last step taken
His choice of words is only "curious" if you start with the (wholly unwarranted) assumption that he had something to hide Not at all. His words clearly indicate that truth is being obscured. In a context that those words were delivered to an audience encouraged to question everything it i...

Re: It's official - open source is virus-laden!
It's difficult to imagine open source software having anywhere near as much stealth functionality as the proprietary stuff. There are too many people remarkably clever people working on it I think.

Re: Debian Wheezy (Testing)
Thanks Tichy, I'll try that out (although I need to research what your saying because I know very little about Linux except that I like it - so that may take some time). Broadly speaking Ubuntu (12.04) reports an acceptable framerate but the gameplay experience belies that. It is as though the game ...

Re: Niel Armstrong’s last step taken
He was a military man and took the interests of his nation to heart. When he returned from his mission he became reclusive in the extreme and a man of few words. It took considerable leverage to make the man appear in public. It is important not to entangle bravery with patriotism. Patriotism might ...

Re: It's official - open source is virus-laden!
But not a very good one  I did scan the link, although I forgot to thank Tricky for his in depth research. Cheers Tricky. Don't get me wrong, my tutor did not state that the root was Latin, simply that the plural of virus is virii. He was, I thought, a most gracious man and wise beyond ...

Re: It's official - open source is virus-laden!
Much that is Latin stems from Greece. During the classical era many a Roman treatise was written in Greek especially those intended for a multi cultural consumption where Latin was considered to be vulgar. I do not know if the word virus is a Latin or Greek word but I estimate it is Latin as the man...
