Re: Win 7 with Intel and Radeon chipsets

I dug on old PC out (500w PSU so I haven't used it in a while - costs about a shilling on the hour). XP SP3 with an Nvidia 6200. It turns out that it sports full shaders which were breathtaking on a 37" monitor. There was no sign of any ZOrder error whatsoever and Oolite was rock solid despite ...

Re: David Braben's Raspberry Pi PC gets ready to launch

Well, trying to purchase one is proving less than easy. There's some daft page on RS components site where I can 'express an interest' - that's not what I want to do! How typically British as in Rover Group.

Re: Malicious code warning: Deep Space Pirates

I did download 5 oxp's and 4 were reported to appear malicious. So, it doesn't affect all oxp's - only some. How singularly odd.

Re: Malicious code warning: Deep Space Pirates

Actually, thinking about it, I got an update for Chromium from Canonical about 24 hours ago. I'll redown some OXP's and see if it's a general issue. Thanks for allaying my concern... there is the matter that other users may be put off by such a warning?

Re: David Braben's Raspberry Pi PC gets ready to launch

It's hard to put into words but, here I go. Years ago a byte (bite) was the maximum number of bits that could be processed in any one operation at any point in a computer. On most systems that was 8. Now a byte is considered to be 8 bits - not more and not less. Similarly the term mainframe was the ...

Malicious code warning: Deep Space Pirates

Hi, I searched for an appropriate thread but couldn't find...

I went to download the Deep Space Pirates oxp and Chromium warned that the file appears to be malicious :o

Re: Relative Difficulty

I played on the Beeb and also had no problem shooting missiles down but normally I'd taken anything out long before it got to me. It seemed to take forever to become Elite but back then time wasn't a problem so much as an elastic resource. I also played the speccy too when a friend bought the Firebi...

Re: Corporate Systems Flavour OXP

I love the idea of different grades of fuel... but also love the 7 light year jump limit. Could a cheaper fuel be the cause of more misjumps/breakdown of equipment?

Re: Background Stars colour - bug?

I shouldn't be surprised but I found it surprisingly easy to make the stars white. I lifted the universal section from the Systems Redux OXP and added a couple of bits from the Wikki and by jingo it worked! Hats off to the programmer. Who in the seven hells thought of making all that configurable by...
