oops forgot a question.

Gravity wells and the simulation of. can this be done. Another thing that could make the mission time critical could be that once you've found the carrier, you have not only got to beat the competition but also race against a deteriorating orbit.

Help! my first mission idea is running away with itself.

Right, here goes, As I've been chatting about a NPC ship idea in the 3d modeling thread I thought I'd better give an overview of what I'm attempting and ask all those questions that I need to. The Mission : Needle in a Haystack Masitech industries have been researching ways to exploit the content of...

That was the plan, kind of like maneuvering thrusters. I'm going to post (a new thread as this is a bit off topic) a brief outline to the mission etc which will be full of questions so any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks familiar? most probably, lol. I'm new to the forum so if I've replecated anyones idea, I do apologise. As for capacity, no, not 20-25 tons, much bigger than that. In the full scale epic idea I've got, the ship is actually to big to dock. I'm designing a kind of space faring robo fork lift to h...

hmm, tricky one. The idea was to have it appear that, when under fierce attack, the captain of the transport opts to dump the modules (which then head for the station in the same way as an escape pod). To do this was I thinking that, if you chose to attack it, I could have a set of docking rings tha...

Work continues on the transport. I've put a couple of basic renders up for people to have a look at. http://homepage.mac.com/tjs2/PhotoAlbum1.html Any comments welcomed (These are lightwave renders so it obviously won't look quite so smooth when in game, also, still messing about with textures and g...

Just a quick nerdy observation, would ships, especially the larger ones, even have cockpits with windows? Would they not be redundant due to speeds/stresses/size? Maybe a few viewing port holes but surely most flying would be done by sensor and screens could translate and relay the info to you (sayi...

Ok, so I've got the model on the go, it's behaviors now. What I'd like to do is have the ship eject it's modules when under severe attack. (modules would then do the same as escape pods and head for the nearest station) As these are quite large objects would I have to include them as separate ships ...

320 vertices?

Hello, yes more newbie questions. Does this 320 vertices rule apply to all objects? I ask as I have been designing a big npc ship to accompany a mission idea. It's a modular transport with multiple uses (depending on which modules are carried) from simpe cargo to light industrial units to medical an...

Hello

New person saying hi.
I also have a question. Can I use Lightwave 3D to build models for oolite and if so, how do they need to be save/exported?
