Re: Sizes and scale in Oolite (again)

Does anybody have any idea as to how many people one would expect to find on a Coriolis station ? 1km x 1km x 1km... The maximum safe packing density for humans is one per square metre. At 4 per square metre (i.e. each person occupying a 50cm x 50cm box), crush injuries and deaths from stampedes be...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (probably)

Can one increase the turbulence on Zaatxe below (say) 4km - and possibly even add "sand" to the effects? I know you meant to write 4km, because that's where the red zone on the altimeter starts. And, my guess is the substantive answer is: yes, but it would be javascripted, not just tweaki...

Re: Limit Theory

I also think Josh suffered from perfectionism, leading him to write then scrap and rewrite then scrape multiple versions of the codebase over time. Don't confuse indecisiveness for perfectionism. What he suffered from - apart from the obvious mental issues - was something fairly common: an inabilit...

there are a whole group of you on that side of our planet. The last time I drove from Sydney to Brisbane the road sign said 999 km. (And that would be the easy bit. ) I thought you were pretty much all in Sydney, with just one or two outliers. Nah, Dizzy is a Queenslander. IIRC, that sign...

I'm wondering why he tried to do it all by himself.
Because he had a personality disorder that made him imagine anyone he allowed to become involved would try to rip him off. That was obvious from early on.

How about "Revolutionary Hauliers"?
With the "ier"?
I believe that implies a person (natural or legal), with personal agency.

Nice. Feel free to donate that to the Explorers' Club ship set... Wildeblood... what was the Explorers' Club ship set supposed to be? I can tell you what it wasn't: something for you to add to your lists of "lost" or unfinished OXPs, since it never existed. Having said that, I knew exactl...

A completely different, yet closely related, question. It cannot go on without some screen backgrounds being included in the download. Not a whole collection, but that start-up screen being plain black is cringe-inducing. Here's what I use: https://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/3/36/Alien_landscape.p...

Re: Aaron Aarts' Amazing Adventure

Well, I just dropped in that second file and started Oolite, and... Oolite puked and refused to load it, complaining that it "does not contain a valid manifest file". Huh? I changed the missiontext file, not the manifest file. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, but seriously, the fragil...

Re: Metafiction: Dialogues on the Lore of Xlite

Or maybe we could add in some worlds to the east of Ascension (would actually this be doable in Oolite?) Adding chart real estate to the right/east was the sort of thing that could be done back when people were experimenting with 9-16 galaxies, different jump ranges instead of 7ly, etc. That was in...

Re: Aaron Aarts' Amazing Adventure

Nice. Given the reference in the identifier, was that the source for the text? Yes. Also, small bug fix: in missiontext.plist, the "aaaa_adventure_3" entry is missing a ";" at the end. Mac computers will likely get upset without it! Well, given its intended audience - Cholly - t...
