Re: Tinkerer's Workshop - OXP tweaking for fun and profit!

I've got a lot of older oxp's with station markets that don't work in 1.82, for obvious reasons-- I know how to convert most of them, but is there a simple way to remove access to the F8 market screen entirely? Rather than show an empty market, in some cases I'd just rather have those stations not h...

Re: Ballistic Weapons?

I do like the idea of some sort of an ammo-based ballistic weapon (perhaps even with an add-on equipment to manufacture ammunition using raw alloys or minerals), but it'd have to be something the enemy gets to play with as well. That might really cause problems, though - imagine a dozen or more NPC...

Re: Ballistic Weapons?

Also, as I recall, it was one of those weapon upgrades that none of the NPC's were able to use. One thing I like about Redspear's New Lasers for 1.82 is that the shipdata has been tweaked to give many of the NPC ships access to the greater variety of weapons. Fair play's a jewel. Even if you could e...

It needs "counts_as_kill" = no; in shipdata perhaps?
Very likely! But this was when I was new to Oolite and hadn't started tinkering in OXP's yet, so I never had a closer look.

You don't need a scientist to do that...anyone can tell you it's her ears!
You're just jealous because you haven't any, Smivs.

Ears, that is. What did you think I meant?

Re: Ballistic Weapons?

It would be an interesting experiment, but you'd have to have some way of removing the slugs from the universe after a set length of time, to avoid the game having to constantly keep track of hundreds or thousands of extra entities. There's another problem with the Railgun OXP-- if you fire too qui...

Re: Squeaky clean assassins.

Sounds like you found a sensible way to give some assasins criminal status . How about calculating an assassasin Fee based on parcel , courier ship and courier elite ranking ? The lower the fee, the bigger the chance some assassins will have a criminal record. Hmm, that's actually a pretty interest...

Re: Squeaky clean assassins.

I, on the other hand, do buy that.. the whole point of being a professional assassin is to avoid official attention. Anyone worthy of the title would be scrupulous about such things. Nope, still not logical. How many thugs are there in organized crime? They're disposable, as far as these groups are...

Squeaky clean assassins.

You know, it occurred to me, just today, that I don't think I've ever seen a band of assassins that had any kind of criminal record when they jump you at the Witchpoint. Not once, to my memory. ( Afterwards , sometimes, if there happens to be Vipers present, but never before they open fire.) While I...

Welcome, welcome, don't step in that, trumbles have been at it. Hullo, Hull-blazer. Mouse controls can be enabled in default key controls by pressing 'shift-M', I believe. They do only work in full screen, according to the wiki. Enjoy your flying and may your cargopods never burst.

Selected system versus route information?

Would it be possible, when you have a long-distance route set in the Navigation Computer, to have F7 pull up the data on the next system along your route, and not the final destination you have targeted? As it stands if you want detailed info on the next planet in your route you have to cancel that ...

Re: Communications Pack A

An unusual message from an assassin during a chase and battle! That dirty so-and-so said, and I blush to repeat such language in a public forum: [CommsLogMFD]: Moray Star Boat: Guisarme of Geinona: [commsPackA_enforcer_firedMissile] Well, after hearing that, and fanning myself a bit from the shock o...

Re: Difficulty starting out

Hurrah, the Mariachi band I ordered is here! Everyone dances! You might want to get out of the main space-lane if you want to avoid most of the mass locking; jet perpendicular to the line from the Witchspace beacon to the main planet for a bit before orienting on the main beacon (or planet) and head...

Re: Docking fees revisited

I've just installed HDBG and Docking Fees. Is it normal to have a docking fee like 7.899999999999999C ? At every port I get *. to 15 places? docking fee. It is very not normal and even a tad eccentric. I've never installed HDBG until now; that's Norby's creation. Can I get a bit more info? List of ...
